Not long before Christmas, on December 19th 2017, a planning application for the construction of an Energy from Waste facility at the Waterbeach Waste Management Park, was lodged by AmeyCespa.
Over the course of the weeks since, there has been mounting concern from residents living in and around Waterbeach as to the size of the proposed facility and the environmental impact.
Following contact from concerned constituents Lucy Frazer wrote to the County Council requesting an extension to the consultation period deadline which was originally set for 23rd January. She wrote “Given the Christmas period and a perceived lack of engagement by AmeyCespa with local residents as to their plans many of my constituents feel that the current consultation deadline of 23 January 2018 should be extended to allow residents more time to make their views known.”
The consultation deadline has now been extended till 6th February 2018 and anyone wishing to have their say can do so by clicking here
She has also written to the Managing Director of Amey Environmental Services seeking further information and reassurance for her constituents.
Lucy has requested that a representative from Amey is present at the public meeting on Monday 29th January to listen to and address the concerns of locals.
Lucy said, “It is understandable why residents are concerned about the planning application and I hope that an extended deadline, allowing people more time to engage in the consultation process will improve communication lines and enable representatives on both sides to clarify their concerns and objectives respectively.
