‘Project Gigabit’ is the Government’s flagship £5 billion programme to enable hard-to-reach communities to access lightning-fast gigabit-capable broadband.
Alongside neighbouring parliamentary colleagues, I have made the case for better connectivity in Cambridgeshire for several years, and was proud that our county was selected as one of the first areas in the country to benefit.
Latest data from ThinkBroadband.com and Building Digital UK show that the number of premises in South East Cambs that have access to gigabit broadband (1GB/second) as of March 2024 is 80%; up from 2% in March 2019.
I look forward to seeing the rollout continue so we can get as close to 100% coverage as possible.
