South East Cambridgeshire MP, Lucy Frazer signed the Holocaust Memorial Day Book of Remembrance to commemorate and pay tribute to all the victims of the Holocaust and other genocides.
Lucy reflected, "The theme of this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day is ‘the power of words’. We all know how dangerous words can be in inciting hatred and spreading lies. Survivors of the holocaust have bravely found the words to tell their stories. As the years go on these real life testimonies get fewer and fewer and it becomes more and more important that we all continue to speak, write and read about the atrocities of the holocaust and call out prejudice and intolerance wherever we see it.
"Today’s theme has really made me stop to think about just how powerful words can be. Words can bring about peace and healing, words can record events and teach lessons, words can cause irreparable damage and suffering.
"In this age of social media words have more power than ever to do all of these things. What a responsibility we all have to learn from the past and use the power of words to change things for the better."
