At a Special General Meeting of the Executive Council and South East Cambridgeshire Conservative Association members on Tuesday 2 May 2017, Lucy Frazer was unanimously re-adopted as the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for South East Cambridgeshire for the General Election on 8 June 2017.
Lucy said, “Having served the South East Cambridgeshire constituency since 2015 I am deeply honoured to be re-adopted as the Conservative Parliamentary candidate in the forthcoming General Election.”
Over the last two years Lucy has campaigned on a number of priority issues for the region, these include:
- Improving infrastructure
- Fairer funding for schools
- Improving broadband and mobile
- Supporting local business
- Saving local services at the Princess of Wales Hospital
Lucy has kicked off a campaign to upgrade the A10 from Cambridge through Waterbeach to Ely raising this in Parliament and with key stakeholders. She has helped to ensure £16m of Government funding for the building of the Ely bypass which is now under construction. She is working to improve the A14/A142 junction, the A14/A11 link at Kennet and find the right answer to the A1307. She has helped secure an £8 million investment in Ely Junction North. This will not only increase the number of trains through Ely to Cambridge, it will also make more certain a station in Soham.
Lucy has campaigned for more funds for our schools. She successfully lobbied for East Cambridgeshire together with Fenland, to become an ‘Opportunity Area’ receiving £6m more for our schools and priority status for bidding on Government Education funding. She has also lobbied for a fairer funding deal and taken the head teachers of the state secondary schools three times to meet the Secretary of State for Education to press for further funding.
Lucy said, “I very much hope I will be re-elected on June 8th so that I can continue to assist in positive changes for South East Cambridgeshire and continue to represent a constituency with so much to offer.”
