In the first Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Questions, Lucy asked the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Greg Clark whether he would visit the Cambridge Science Park to discuss the implications of Brexit. Cambridgeshire is a net contributor to the Treasury, with 20,000 businesses generating revenues of over £30 billion.
The Secretary of State replied that one of the important features of the Government's industrial strategy is to have a clear recognition of the contribution and local leadership that different places bring.
He also stated that although he has appointed the Minister for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation Jo Johnson as the lead liaison for Cambridge, he is a frequent and enthusiastic visitor to Cambridgeshire, and would be very happy to visit himself.
Lucy has arranged several meetings with local business leaders and organisations with an interest in Brexit to discuss post-Brexit strategy for Cambridgeshire.
