As part of ACRE’s Village Halls Week initiative, launched this year, Lucy Frazer MP joined those gathered at the Fulbourn Centre on Friday.
Village Halls Week is about raising the profile of the vibrant and diverse network of village halls and championing the dedicated volunteers who run these local facilities for the benefit of their community.
Lucy said, “Village Halls play a key role, in particular in rural communities such as ours. They are often a vital meeting place for all generations and play a vital role in the battle against loneliness. They are commonly used for fitnesss classes, lunchtime clubs, retirement clubs, nursery and preschool groups, Scouts and Guides associations and youth clubs. They play a prominent role in key life events including weddings, christenings and wakes and are an ideal neutral venue for council meetings, business clubs and such like.
“It was my pleasure to visit the Fulbourn Centre as part of Village Halls Week and to see what an integral part it plays within the local community. “
