Lucy Frazer MP joined local farmers today at a meeting in Westminster. The visit was part of the Cereals Development Programme run in partnership between the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) and the grain co-op Openfield and was an opportunity for the farmers involved to learn about the work of Parliament and for the MPs present to discuss current issues facing farmers in their region.
Lucy spoke at the meeting. She thanked Peter Hatley of Manor Farm, Landbeach, for inviting her to attend and commented that understanding the issues facing the industry and concerns about what lies ahead in light of Brexit is key to making sure we can do our job to effectively represent the farming community in ongoing and future agricultural related discussions and debates.
The Cereals Development Programme aims to give the next generation of arable farmers the opportunity to develop their understanding of the UK arable supply chain, and to develop transferable skills in order to advance professional development and engage more widely within the industry.
