Lucy Frazer MP was at Soham Village College again this week. Lucy last visited the college in July to take part in the school’s end of year Celebration Evening and her visit on Friday warranted further cause for celebration.
On this occasion, those being celebrated were the 8 Year 11 students taking part in the inter schools parliamentary debate competition which is now in its 4th year.
Each student spoke for 3 minutes either for or against the motion, “This House believes that tuition fees should be scrapped and historic debt for student fees should be written off”
The competition was judged by both Lucy Frazer and SVC Head Teacher Jon Hampson.
Lucy said, “I must congratulate, not only the two winning pupils, Katie and Beth, but all the participating students on an excellent debate. I must also thank all those involved behind the scenes, encouraging students to participate and supporting them in the process, in particular Deputy Head Mary Wilcox who has overseen coordination once again this year. It was a very difficult task to judge for myself and Head Teacher Jon Hampson and all those participating deserve to feel very proud of themselves!”
