The UK should play its part in supporting refugees fleeing Syria and I welcome the Prime Minister’s commitment to doing so. Our country has a proud history of accepting refugees. This has not only saved lives but enriched our culture.
Once we have welcomed those in need and offered immediate shelter, we must ensure that they have the tools to live a decent life fully integrated into our communities. I raised this very issue with the Prime Minister during Monday’s statement and asked him about the resources available for the 20,000 refugees that will be coming to the UK over the next five years. You can see the full statement, and my question, here:

I know that many people across Cambridgeshire have collected food, clothing, money and other vital resources to help. I have been struck by the generosity of those taking an active role in helping those refugees who have already come to the UK
