On a recent trip to Hawk Mill Farm, Little Wilbraham, Lucy Frazer MP discussed conservation farming with farmer David White.
They discussed how to enhance soil biology by an alternative practice which involves growing cover crops ahead of cash crops. David explained to Lucy how different plants bring different benefits to soil life and how this approach also reduces the cost of running a farm as less machinery and labour is required.
They also talked about the use of the herbicide glyphosate. Lucy said "I learned a great deal on my visit to Hawk Mill Farm and am extremely grateful to David for taking the time to explain his methods to me in such detail. It was a very informative meeting."
