Lucy Frazer MP this week met with senior leadership personnel at Amgen, a company renowned for innovation in the biotech industry. Amgen focuses on areas of high unmet medical need developing and delivering innovative human therapeutics for patients suffering from serious illnesses.
Cambridge Science Park was home to Amgen’s first UK office, set up more than 25 years ago. This base remains at the forefront of Amgen’s European Research & Development organisation and is one of the company’s largest hubs outside its global headquarters in Thousand Oaks, California.
Lucy was pleased to meet with General Manager for UK and Ireland, John Kearney; VP Regulatory Affairs Europe, Chris Walker, HR Director; Sandy Fliri and Head of Market Access, Andy Poll. The meeting agenda was wide ranging covering everything from the likely challenges posed by Brexit and NHS cost containment to the pioneering work of Amgen and what they give back to the community in terms of supporting education and charitable work.
Lucy said "Amgen is another example of how South East Cambridgeshire boasts such a wealth of cutting edge science based industries. I will continue to support these businesses wherever I can so that they may continue to thrive in our region, having a very positive impact, not only globally, but also on a local scale as Amgen does with its charitable work and endeavours supporting education."
