Lucy Frazer MP took part in Ely College’s edition of ‘Question Time’ as part of their ‘Pledges and Futures Day’ on Friday 16th June. The session was hosted by Principal Richard Spencer and 200 pupils aged 11-15 came well prepared with questions on education, defence, health and social care and Brexit.
Lucy said, “Question Time at Ely College was very well organised. The students clearly have a great interest in politics and current affairs. Their questions were well informed and they did not shy away from challenging me on the issues that mattered to them. I was very glad to have the opportunity to answer their questions and engage in such a far reaching and interesting discussion."
The Pledges and Futures Day initiative is aimed at encouraging students to get involved with the wider experiences the College has to offer them with a view to developing character and responsibility.
Lucy added “I am very much in favour of the idea of time out to focus on a programme of events aimed at helping each pupil develop fully as an individual and productive member of society and I pay credit to the personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education department at Ely College for putting together such an inspiring and informative day.”
