MP for South East Cambridgeshire, Lucy Frazer, was this week appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice.
Lucy was first elected to Parliament in May 2015. She has served on the Education Select Committee and has been Parliamentary Private Secretary to both the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice and, prior to that, the Paymaster General and Minister to the Cabinet Office.
Before becoming an MP, Lucy practised as a barrister and was appointed as Queen's Counsel in 2013.
Lucy said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as a Minister to the Justice Team.
“Working in a department that supports people when they are often most in need – helping victims, those needing access to the courts and ensuring offenders receive appropriate punishment but are also rehabilitated – is a privilege, and I am pleased to have an opportunity to play a role in these areas.
“As we leave the EU it is also vitally important that the future of the UK’s thriving legal services industry is secured. Some outstanding Ministers have left the department but I am looking forward to working with a dynamic new Justice team to continue to improve our justice system.”
