On a recent visit to Linton Heights Junior School, local MP Lucy Frazer, was given a tour by two of the school’s pupils both excellent ambassadors. The school accommodates children from Year 3 to Year 6 and offers a wide range of facilities and learning opportunities.
During the tour, Lucy got to see pupils rehearsing for their forthcoming school play, an excellent display of Greek pottery made by the pupils and also the school’s fantastic ‘Forest Schools area.’ The Forest Schools initiative is a national programme which offers children the opportunity to learn about the countryside, to develop their initiative and build their confidence through hands on learning experiences in the outdoors.
Lucy said, “I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Linton Heights Junior School. There is a real sense of community about the school and lots of enthusiasm from pupils and staff alike. The Forest Schools area which is used during both lessons and playtime adds a whole other dimension of learning and play beyond the classroom and it is clear to see how beneficial and valued this is.”
Head teacher James Puxley said, “It was lovely to welcome our Member of Parliament, Lucy Frazer, to Linton Heights Junior School. Lucy was bowled over by the impeccable behaviour and enthusiasm of our pupils; the vibrant and enriching learning environment and the happy aura of the staff team. It was also interesting to discuss issues such as fairer funding and support for schools with her. Lucy has invited pupils to visit her at the House of Commons which we intend to do in due course!”
