From conversations with local residents, I know just how frustrated people are about the potholes that plight our roads. They cause danger for drivers and damage to our vehicles.
In just the past year, I have helped resolve pothole issues in over 40 locations, and continue to follow-up any outstanding problems or quality issues with the county council when contacted by my constituents.
This is being supported by generous increases in funding from the UK Government, too. Late last year, the Government announced a further £3 million for our region for 2024/25, taking the total highways maintenance budget to more than £26 million. In fact, between now and 2033/34, the Government is awarding our region a considerable uplift of £91 million to deal with highways issues.
If re-elected, I will continue to hold the county council to account for their use of funds and the quality of the repairs completed by their contractors.
