As some may know, Anglian Water has been consulting on its plans to relocate the Waste Water Treatment Plant currently located in North Cambridge. This has been prompted by South Cambridgeshire District Council’s local plan, which plans to redevelop the area in order to increase the supply of housing.
All three of the shortlisted sites were located in my constituency, and so it was not possible for me to favour or oppose any particular one over another. I have highlighted the concerns of residents about each particular site to make sure that all views were given due consideration.
Anglian Water has now chosen the site north of the A14 and east of Horningsea Road (known as site 3), as the preferred site for relocation. I know that this will be of great concern to those in the local area, and will continue to work with residents throughout this process. I am committed to making sure that all concerns are taken into account, and that Anglian Water takes significant steps to mitigate the negative effects of its proposals.
I await details of Anglian’s specific plans, which will outline the precise location that is envisaged for the Water Treatment Plant. It is my expectation that one or more open meetings will be held once dates can be agreed by all the key stakeholders, and will publicise details of those meetings on this page.
