I know that many are concerned about the tier system of Covid restrictions. A number of constituents have written to me to explain why they feel that some of the restrictions aren't suited to the area in which they live.
The government is keeping its response under constant review, and is also doing everything it can to make sure that restrictions are tailored to local situations. As of this morning, the Health Secretary has confirmed the latest measures that will be in place. Cambridgeshire will remain in tier two. However, our county will now be considered separately from Peterborough, which has been more heavily affected, and will be moving into tier three as a result.
I know that adhering to these restrictions is frustrating in so many ways, but we have to accept that infection rates across the country remain high. With vaccines now being administered across the country, including in Cambridgeshire, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
