Kennett Community Land Trust has twice been a beneficiary of the Government’s £300 million Community Housing Fund, which helps community groups build homes by covering a range of costs incurred in the process. Most recently in 2021, the trust received £53,525, which has helped it move closer to realising its dream of launching Kennett Garden Village.
The village will contain four residential neighbourhoods, and all houses owned by the land trust will exclusively house local people who have a recognised housing need. Each neighbourhood will also benefit from accessible green and play space, and new local facilities such as a planned new primary school and local shop.
I had the pleasure of celebrating the breaking of ground for this exciting new development last week and look forward to seeing its progress.
