Recently, I met with members of Swaffham Prior Parish Council and the Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) to discuss plans for the ‘Swaffham Greenway’.
Active travel is so important for improving public health and nurturing a sense of community, which is why I have long been an advocate of new walking and cycling infrastructure. Initiatives like these have been supported across the country by £850 million of government investment between 2020/21 and 2022/23.
However, it is also important that they are carefully designed and do not compromise existing transport infrastructure.
As the GCP prepares to take the upgrade options to a public consultation, I will be reiterating this point to them and working with the parish council to secure the most beneficial solution for residents.
