It was good to catch up with the CEO of NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Jan Thomas, about the service at Staploe Medical Centre in Soham, and patient access to NHS dentists.
This followed a letter I wrote to Jan and the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care last month about these issues, in which I called for the Staploe surgery to be awarded sufficient capacity and resource in order to meet the needs of the community, and for more action to widen NHS dentist availability regionally.
Given the regional growth we have seen in recent years and the value of our primary care facilities in keeping pressure off hospitals, these are important objectives that I will continue to pursue.
