I recently visited Wilburton FC to see the new portable floodlights that have been procured following a successful bid by the local parish council to the Government's Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme.
Wilburton is just one of eight parishes in South East Cambridgeshire to receive funding in the programme's 2022-23 fund:
1. In Burwell, the Community Sports Centre Association has received a new artificial pitch
2. In Little Thetford, the Little Thetford Eagles Football Club has been given funds for new goalposts
3. In Teversham, Teversham Parish Council has secured capital funding to upgrade their pavilion
4. In Balsham, the village football club has also obtained some new goalposts
5. In West Wratting, West Wratting Football Club has received funding for several facility upgrades, including to their changing rooms
6. In Waterbeach, the Waterbeach Colts FC has also received funds for new goalposts
7. In Milton, Cambridge Regional College has been supported with upgrades to their multi-use-games-arena (MUGA)
In total, South East Cambridgeshire has benefitted from almost £100,000 of investment, which will help more people to get active, and existing sporting talent to be nurtured into the future.
