Yesterday, the Health Secretary gave Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital the green light, meaning construction work can begin immediately. The plan is for the project to conclude by the end of 2026/early 2027.
The hospital will bring together world-leading clinical and research expertise with the aim of delivering breakthroughs in the way that we treat cancer.
In total, the amazing new facility will include 19 separate departments, including a cyto-toxic pharmacy that can store drugs that prevent cancer cells from dividing and growing.
This announcement comes at the same time as a fresh £20 billion investment package towards the Government’s New Hospitals Programme, which is delivering new and improved hospital infrastructure across the country, including Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Cambridgeshire.
