Earlier this week I had a really useful catch up with the National Farmers Union and farmers in my constituency. It was great to be joined at the meeting by the Farming Minister, Victoria Prentis, and I am pleased that NFU members were able to put their questions on a range of issues, including the Government’s Peat Strategy, the Agricultural Transition Plan and seasonal workers directly to the Minister.
Farming is vital to the future of the UK’s economy and has an essential role to play in our future prosperity. It is at the heart of South East Cambridgeshire’s many rural communities and it is a key priority for me to ensure that farmers are supported in tackling the issues that make farming difficult.
