I recently invited all residents of Chippenham to come and share their views and questions with me at the Village Hall.
A variety of issues were raised with me, including:
The desire to see more local presence and communication from police as they tackle crime
I am pleased that the Government’s ‘Police Uplift Programme’ has returned record numbers at Cambridgeshire Constabulary (1,700+ officers) since 2019 and recent government guidance mandates more community attendance, including for all burglaries. Cllr Kelli Pettitt is also doing a fantastic job of organising a ‘Community Safety Partnership Forum’ for residents this month
Others shared their ongoing concerns about the proposed Sunnica Energy Farm, including the use of lithium batteries in its design
I have supported the Say No to Sunnica Action Group for many years on this issue, making frequent written/oral submissions to the Planning Inspectorate and Health and Safety Executive. I continue to do so as we await the decision, now set for 11 April 2024
Speeding through the village
Just as I am helping Haddenham Parish Council with their anti-speeding agenda, I am keen to support other villages like Chippenham by sponsoring any parish council ‘Local Highways Improvement’ bids and reporting repeat incidents to our dedicated team at the Constabulary
