I have been pressing for better connectivity in South East Cambridgeshire since even before I was elected as the local Member of Parliament, and in the years following, I have repeatedly supported Cambridgeshire to be first in the queue for any rollout.
It was therefore exciting to join Cityfibre on Friday in Fen Ditton, where works have begun to install lightning-fast broadband as part of the first tranche of the Government’s £5 billion ‘Project Gigabit’ scheme.
As the Government’s chosen delivery partner, Cityfibre will be implementing future-proof connectivity for approximately 45,000 homes in Cambridgeshire over the next few years, to the tune of £69 million. Milton and Landbeach are amongst the next villages to benefit.
These works are critical for my constituents relying on the Internet for their daily activities and businesses who rely on good connection for high productivity.
