I understand that Sunnica Ltd are planning to submit their Development Consent Order to the Planning Inspectorate shortly. As part of their statutory consultation last year, they proposed installing a vast solar farm, which would stretch more than 2,700 acres and would be by far the largest in the UK, coming into close proximity of a number of villages in my constituency, including Isleham, Kennett, Snailwell and Chippenham.
Alongside my neighbouring MP, Matt Hancock I have opposed their plans directly to the company and also with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Our concerns include, the project’s scale, the loss of agricultural land and open countryside, decommissioning and safety.
With the application forthcoming, Matt and I will be holding a joint meeting with residents taking place at The Beeches in Isleham (32 Mill Street, Isleham, Cambridgeshire, CB7 5RY) at 3.30pm – 4.30pm on Friday 15 October.
I know that residents across the constituency are concerned about the project and if you would like to join the meeting so that we can ensure your views continue to be fed into the process, please do email me at [email protected].
