I'm pleased that plans for the new cancer hospital at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus continue to progress and after submitting the outline business case for the new hospital to NHS England in October, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have now submitted their planning application to Cambridge City Council. A decision is expected later this year.
The team has also now started work on its full outline business case - this is the last stage before a final decision is made.
I hope that the project will be approved, and if it is granted, construction could begin as early as next year.
Alongside neighbouring MP Anthony Browne MP, I am committed to improving healthcare for all constituents. I have supported Cambridge University Hospitals throughout their process and regularly meet with senior leaders at Addenbrooke's Hospital Cambridge, England for updates. I have also co-signed a letter to the Chancellor requesting a meeting to discuss the application as well as plans for the new children's hospital. As always, I will continue to update consituents with any developments.
