Last Autumn, the Government announced backing for the Ely Area Capacity Enhancement Programme with some of the savings made by the Department for Transport.
I recently met with Network Rail to discuss progress and to emphasise the importance of the Queen Adelaide crossings as part of these plans.
Network Rail have worked on a number of integrated road and rail options in this area which will maintain road connectivity while allowing rail capacity to be increased. I will be working closely with them to ensure that the final proposal does not compromise the lived experiences of local residents and motorists.
