Last month, Stagecoach announced that they would be significantly reducing the Number 9 bus service between Littleport and Cambridge from 10 services per day to three, starting on 14 April.
I wrote to the Mayor immediately to highlight the tremendous impact this would have on commuters, pupils and families, and I called him to act.
Since then, I welcome that the Combined Authority has finally commissioned a second bus to plug some of the gaps, but unfortunately, the response does not go far enough – the revised timetable still offers users very limited options.
Today, I have gone back to the Mayor with the following questions:
1. When did the Combined Authority first know about the planned cut to the service?
2. What is the source of funding for the new A2B service?
3. Will you use the 200% increase to your council tax precept to restore the Number 9 service in full?
