Yesterday Steve Barclay MP, Cllr Anna Bailey, Leader of East Cambridgeshire District Council and I met with Jan Thomas and Dr Gary Howsam from the NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care Board (which is responsible for commissioning primary care services across our region) at Priors Field Surgery in Sutton. We discussed what can be done to maintain local primary care services following the news last week that the doctors had served a termination notice which would result in closure at the end of this month.
Steve, Anna and I are deeply concerned about the impact closing Priors Field Surgery could have on our constituents.
I am particularly concerned that as well as impacting residents in Sutton, any relocation of those patients to neighbouring practices will have an impact on those living in Ely and Haddenham.
I am pleased that at our meeting the ICB agreed to explore at speed what can be done to protect primary care services that are easily accessible to Sutton residents.
