The Cambridge Biomedical Campus is an impressive facility, and I was delighted to visit its many parts recently.
The AstraZeneca £1bn facility will support the company's focus on specialised and precision medicine as well as the development of next-generation therapeutics. Alongside 16 large labs and 2200 research scientists, the site will include advanced robots, screening and AI-driven technology.
During the visit I also saw the site for the new children's and cancer hospital - both are set to be built by 2024. I also visited the Institute of Metabolic Science and spoke with Clinical Operations Director, Amanda Clarkson, who oversees their work to examine genes of interest.
