Seven years ago I launched an annual inter-school debating competition for the secondary schools in my constituency. It's a yearly highlight for me and after holding the event virtually last year, it was fantastic to be back to be back in the classroom to hold the competition in-person.
My first stop this year was Ely College, who were debating the motion: “This House believes no issue is more important than climate change”. The students were a credit to their school and delivered their arguments clearly and persuasively.
Huge congratulations to Hannah and Charlotte who will represent their school in the final against pupils from other secondary schools in the constituency at the House of Commons later this year.
