Through their triumph in the Euros and superb run in the World Cup Down Under, the Lionesses have inspired girls across the country to take up football.
Last week, I joined Living Sport at a training session for Soham Town Rangers Youth FC (U16 Girls’ team), to speak with the girls about how they got inspired to play and to find out about their progress this season.
Living Sport is a Cambridgeshire charity who sponsor and deliver a range of projects/activities for young people in my constituency. Their investment in the club has generated a new under 9’s team and has procured new team shirts.
I am delighted that local charities like them are complimenting the government’s work to invest in better football facilities and widen access to the sport.
