Today is World Cancer Day – a day where we raise awareness of cancer and encourage its prevention, detection and treatment.
I recently met some of my constituents at the Oasis Ely Cancer Hub, which is a welcoming, caring and safe space for those affected by cancer in the local community. Almost two years old, the hub offers practical help and wellbeing sessions for patients, and is clearly appreciated by its members.
For many years, I have been pushing for better cancer services in South East Cambridgeshire, including a world class Cancer Research Hospital which will bring together clinical and research expertise to radically transform patient care, and I am delighted that pre-construction works are set to begin this summer.
