Around 15 A level students from Kings Ely came to Westminster following the Easter recess. The visit was arranged by the Parliament Education Service, which introduces young people to politics and the political process.
Students enjoyed a walk along Downing Street followed by a tour of both the House of Commons & House of Lords. Later in the day they met their MP, Lucy Frazer. The visiting students also had a new immersive experience in Parliament which explains the vital campaign that took place 100 years ago which saw women secure the right to vote for the first time.
The students who are all studying Politics A Level, enjoyed quizzing their MP on a wide range of topics including Brexit, climate change and mental health. Lucy also explained more about her role as an MP and how she represents her constituents in Parliament.
Lucy regularly visits all of the schools across her constituency. Her annual schools debating competition ensures she visits most secondary schools in the autumn term and she has now begun conducting debating workshops in primary schools too. She also meets with senior school staff across the constituency on a regular basis.
