So many people have helped out others in so many ways during the pandemic. I was so pleased to have an opportunity to meet with a few of those who have gone beyond the call of duty. In Fordham Cilla Palmer who runs the Fordham timebank has worked so hard. Along with other volunteers I helped deliver pen pal letters from schoolchildren to those who were shielding. The scheme has been such a success.
In Fen Ditton, I met with George and a number of his volunteers. They regularly make cakes for NHS key workers and shielded individuals. It was great to chat to them, deliver the delicious cakes and have an opportunity to try some of them!
I also popped to Hurrell in Burwell with Cheryl Wilding to pick up an order for a shielding local resident.
I was so impressed how each community has joined together and thought up initiatives which work in their villages. Thank you to everyone who has played their part in keeping our communities connected during lockdown.
