Network Rail is planning to close a number of level crossings in Cambridgeshire & Suffolk. Their original plans included the closing of Weatherby Crossing, which would have adversely affected residents of Cheveley and Newmarket, by inhibiting pedestrian access to Newmarket high street.
I am pleased to be able to confirm that following representations from local MPs and Councillors, Network Rail have shelved these plans, meaning that Weatherby Crossing will remain open for the time being.
