It was really encouraging catch up with Jan Thomas, Chief Executive of our local Clinical Commissioning Group, about the rollout of the Covid19 vaccine across Cambridgeshire and specifically in my constituency. There has been a high take up of the vaccine and in South East Cambridgeshire nearly 93% of those aged over 60 have already had a first dose, including almost all housebound residents. Cambridgeshire as a whole is on track to have offered a first dose to everyone in the top 9 priority groups by mid-April. This is amazing news and I pay huge tribute to the army of NHS staff and volunteers who have made this possible.
Whilst the continued success of the vaccine programme is great news, it’s crucial that we don’t let our guard down. Please continue to follow all the guidance in place to control the virus and save lives, even if you have already had your vaccine. Stay at home as much as possible, and if you do have to go out remember “hands, face, space”. If you have concerns about your Covid19 vaccination, or that of a loved one, then please do get in contact with me.
