I recently met with Nigel Clayton, Farm Manager at Henry D’Abo Farming for my first visit to a local farm since the lifting of lockdown. Nigel gave me a tour of the farm, showing me the hedges and meadows they have grown in recent years which provide crucial habitats for wildlife.
Nigel and I discussed the impact of the pandemic on the farming industry, the importance of protecting British farmers in future trade deals, rural crime, and the new Environmental Land Management schemes. Local farmers are working hard to support our domestic foods production as well as our effort to reach the UK’s target for Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050.
