I am really pleased to see that more than £300k has been secured by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Police for a new project to prevent domestic abuse and stalking in our area.
The funding from the Home Office's Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Fund will be used to target early intervention and prevention, providing support to a wider range of domestic abuse offenders, children and adolescents who commit domestic abuse against their parents or carers and persistent stalkers.
The bid was developed with six local and two national partners including Suzy Lamplugh Trust and Respect who will provide expertise and guidance in the early months of the project, and further funding for the three distinct projects is being provided locally through contributions of staff time from Cambridgeshire County Council and Cambridgeshire Constabulary as well as an additional £44k from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC).
Tackling crime is one of my top priorities as an MP, and I will continue to work closely with our police, Police and Crime Commissioner and local stakeholders on this issue.
