The Swaffham Prior Community Heat Project is paving the way as a blueprint for other communities across our region and across the country on how renewable energy can be used to decarbonise and provide affordable energy.
I recently wrote to Lord Callanan, Minister for Energy, Business and Corporate Responsibility to ask him to allow Cambridgeshire County Council further time to use the funding received from the Government. I am delighted that he has confirmed that the project could benefit from the Government's available funding for low carbon technologies and recognises the effects that the pandemic has had on projects like the one in Swaffham Prior to meet commissioning deadlines.
This is fantastic news and I look forward to continuing to work with and support members of the local community on this project.
