Based in Impington, Ls Plant Breeding Limited specialise in developing new varieties of crops for the UK farming industry. I recently met Chris Guest, their Managing Director and received an update on their work as well as participating in a discussion about the Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Bill, energy costs, food security and land use strategy.
The company employs 11 people locally and will double in size during the summer. They are keep to bring in apprentices and young people from the local area and currently work with Milton College, who have a diploma programme in plant breeding.
It was a fascinating visit and I wish them all the best for the future.
