I know that many of my constituents in Histon, Impington and Milton were disappointed by the removal of e-scooters at the end of last year. This was because the original trial area did not cover locations outside of Cambridge City and so the extension of the e-scooters to these area was done in error. This was discovered by the Department for Transport during a review of the trial programme.
I wrote to the Secretary of State for Transport to express my constituents' concerns and I am pleased to hear in response that the extension of the trial was approved by the department on 12 May 2023 after outstanding issues in the trial were addressed.
As of 6 June 2023, they were re-introduced by the Combined Authority and will continue to benefit local residents in South Cambridgeshire.
