Last week, Matt Hancock MP and I met with the Rail Minister, Huw Merriman MP, to make the case for improved rail connectivity between Cambridge and Newmarket.
During our meeting, I particularly highlighted the benefits of reinstating the Newmarket Curve, which would create a more regular and reliable service for passengers and freight, helping to spread prosperity across rural Cambridgeshire and taking more lorries off the road.
I am pleased to say that Network Rail is currently undertaking a review of rail services in Cambridgeshire - including plans for the Newmarket Curve - and I will be monitoring its findings as closely as possible.
As we wait for the conclusion, I will continue to press for better rail infrastructure to meet the growing demand and opportunities in our region.
