Earlier this week, I hosted eighteen GCSE/sixth-form pupils from across South East Cambridgeshire and the wider area for work experience in the Palace of Westminster. The itinerary was specially designed to give them a reasonable idea of the work of an MP and their staff.
The day began with a tour around the parliamentary estate, including both chambers, Central Lobby and Westminster Hall, before pupils took to the public gallery to watch Health and Social Care questions.
They then undertook two workshops to learn how I communicate with local media and my constituents, and how I practically assist my constituents with their individual problems. I was then pleased to spend some time answering the pupils’ questions about my role, my former career as a barrister, and my experience as a Government Minister.
