Public speaking and debating are such vital skills for employment and for general life, so I want to give the young people in my constituency opportunities to develop them.
On Friday, pupils from Ely College debated the ban to the sale of cigarettes in a bid to make it to the South East Cambridgeshire Debating Competitional Final in the Palace of Westminster. The participants made a number of compelling points, related to free choice, the impact on the economy and public services, and the relative significance of passive smoking.
Well done to everyone for taking part and I look forward to seeing Aidan and Riley in March for the final!
