I recently invited every resident of Kennett village to come and share their views with me.
Some highlighted the importance of managing our borders to ensure that our immigration system is fair and sustainable. The Government is addressing this through its five-point plan to curb net migration and its action to reduce small boat crossings, which are down by a third in the last 12 months
Others asked about the phasing out of oil boilers, which I know many of my constituents use in rural villages. The deadline for this has been pushed back to 2035 by the Government to give families more time to adjust, while grants are now up to £7,500 for boiler upgrades
Pavement access and highways markings are both so important for road safety, but constituents pointed out several issues here. I shared that, as ever, I am happy to follow up with the County Council to remedy these issues
I also reiterated my commitment to supporting initiatives in the village - as I have done already with Kennett Garden Village’s successful bid to the Community Housing Fund - and continue to do as we seek rail service expansion at Kennett Station.
